Women In Tourism think PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Join Women in Tourism for their PINK Breakfast and fashion parade on Friday 2nd October @ the Titanium Bar.
Gold Coast, September 22, 2009 – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Women in Tourism plan to raise much needed funds in style! Enjoy the fashion of the catwalk, or place a bid on the items being modeled and auctioned before you. Hot Tomato News Director, Kate Carlyle will be the guest speaker at the breakfast, sharing her story of the road she has taken to fight Breast Cancer.
“Ms Carlyle is very well known and respected on the Gold Coast, we feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to hear Kate speak of her current battle with breast cancer. The October Women in Tourism Breakfast is a great way for us to support breast cancer research and those affected by helping to raise money and awareness” said Lisa Sommerville, President of Women In Tourism.
“Over 12000 Australian women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year, and with so many lives on the Gold Coast touched by this disease, we wanted to do something local to promote awareness and raise much needed funds.” She said
“We are really encouraging the Gold Coast community to ‘go pink’ and join us at the breakfast to support local women with breast cancer. We continue to dedicate our October breakfast to Breast Cancer fundraising by holding a PINK Breakfast each year and we are excited to be holding the event at the Titanium bar” Ms Sommerville added.
WIT has been a prominent networking and education group for tourism operators on the Gold Coast for more than 22 years. Whilst our focus is women, male members are more than welcome.
The breakfast, at the Titanium Bar, is open to non- members, but bookings are essential and close on Monday 28th September. To make bookings, go to www.womenintourism.org and follow the link.
